Plate Thickness: Gold Thickness: Type A and B – 0.00005 inches minimum with 0.000003 inches minimum at the crimp location (approximately half the distance from the wire inspection hole to the wire entrance end of the crimp barrel). Type C – Ferrous Iron, ANSI Type J Contacts shall be suitably protected from corrosion. Type D – 0.00005 inches minimum with 0.000003 inches minimum at the crimp location (approximately half the distance from the wire inspection hole to the wire entrance end of the crimp barrel). Note: Gold thickness checkpoint for all types to be inspected 0.100 inches to 0.150 inches from the end of the pin for both socket contacts as well as pin contacts.
Strike Thickness: Nickel underplate per AMS-QQ-N-290, Class 2, 0.00003 to 0.00015 inches thick. A silver underplate is not permitted on Type D contacts.
Notes: The gold thickness inside the crimp barrel shall be 3 microinches minimum at the crimp location. The gold plating shall be plated in accordance to SATM B488, Type II, Code C and the nickel underplate shall be plated in accordance to AMS-QQ-N-290, class 2.
