Plate Thickness: Minimum plating shall be of the following grades: Grade A: 0.0016 inches Grade B: 0.0012 inches Grade C: 0.0010 inches Grade D: 0.0008 inches Grade E: 0.0006 inches Grade F: 0.0004 inches Grade G: 0.0002 inches
Strike Thickness: 3.2.5 Underplating: When specified in the contract, purchase order of applicable drawing, Class 1 plating shall be applied over a plating of copper on steels, copper and copper based alloys. Class 1 plating shall be applied over an underplating of copper or yellow brass on zinc and zinc based alloys.
Notes: 6.7: Class 1 Processing: Class 1 may be processed for the following forms of nickel deposition: SB - single layer coating in a fully bright finish. SD - Single layer coating in a dull or semi-bright finish containing less than 0.005 percent sulfur and having an elongation greater than 8 percent., M - Multilayer coating, either double-layer or triple layer of nickel composed of both brightened and unbrightened layers.
