Application: Electroplating a silver coating onto copper and copper alloys and previously nickel plated copper and copper allows. The silver coating is used to obtain surface characteristic, such as corrosion resistance and conductivity, which the copper base metal does not possess.

Strike Thickness: per 3.6 – Beryllium or tellurium alloys and some leaded copper materials may require a copper plate before the silver plate to promote good adhesion. The proper plating procedure shall be determined by trial and error for each part. A flash plate of copper of 0.000070″ is usually sufficient. per 3.7 – Most copper and copper alloys must be silver struck prior to plating. This step involve placing a thin initial layer of silver on the part to promote coverage and adhesion.
